Signs There’s A Problem with Vehicle Transmission

Posted on October 21, 2019

Does your car make loud noises every time you change gears? Or maybe the engine fluid is leaking. These are just a few of the many signs of problems with a vehicle transmission.

This is a major problem since vehicle transmission is directly connected with the speed of the vehicle.
Furthermore, a vehicle transmission issue can even result in your engine seizing. When this happens, you’ll have no choice but to get the engine replaced altogether.

You can imagine how costly that can be. Therefore, it’s best that you make sure your car is well maintained. Keep a lookout for the following signs:

A Burning Odor

Noticed a burning smell coming from the car? It might be because the engine fluid is burning. This fluid ensures that all parts of the engine stay lubricated; therefore, this is not a problem you can afford to avoid!

There’s also a chance that the fluid might damage the engine when it burns. Take your car to mechanics as soon as you detect the odor to prevent any further damage to your vehicle.

The Transmission Fluid Is Leaking

Is your car running out of fuel too quickly? This is a tell-tale sign that the engine fluid is leaking. There are multiple reasons because of which you might be facing this problem.

It can be due to an out-of-balance driveshaft, damaged bell housing, or a worn-out seal. In addition to these, a loose transmission pan may also lead to this problem.

Keep an eye on the fluid levels in your car. Use the dipstick and see if the fluid levels have declined. If the color of the fluid is brown and it’s giving off a burning smell, you’ll have to get it replaced.

Car Isn’t Moving Properly When You Switch Gears
Have you noticed that your car doesn’t respond when you switch gears? This is another sign of a problem with the vehicle transmission. Usually, you face this problem because of two reasons; a worn-out clutch or because of problems with transmission fluid.

Lights on Dashboard Flashing

A major benefit of modern vehicles is that they have additional features like sensors, which activate in case there is a problem with the vehicle.

You know there’s a problem with your vehicle as soon as you notice lights on the dashboard. It can be a sign that your vehicle’s temperature is above normal. Furthermore, it can also be a sign that there’s a problem with your car’s fluid levels.

No matter what the case, the bottom line is that you should immediately get your car checked when you face this problem.
